The Social Media Engineering & Forensics Professional (SMEFP) Certification attests to an individual's skills in designing, implementing and operating secure social media solutions. SMEFP professionals have the knowledge necessary to detect cyber security attacks stemming from social media channels, analyze the impact of the breach, mitigate the risks, and collect necessary evidence of breach for further investigation and possible prosecution. SMEFPs have proven competency in social media engineering techniques in which attacker manipulates employee to divulge sensitive information, and can lead necessary staff training to prevent security breaches originating from social media platforms.

Ideal Candidates for SMEFP Certification

The SMEFP Certification is ideal for individuals with proven hands-on experience in the cyber security space. Candidate job roles include: security administrator, systems administrator, network administrator, security architect, security engineer, penetration tester, risk assessment engineer, forensics engineer, information security director, chief information security officer or any other role that is responsible for information security.

  • SMEFP awards continuing education points to candidates holding Security+, Network+ and CISSP certifications.

Knowledge Required to Obtain the SMEFP Certification

The SMEFP Common Body of Knowledge is comprised of the following eleven knowledge domains:

  • Knowledge Domain 1: Social Media Technical Decomposition
  • Knowledge Domain 2: Social Media Risks
  • Knowledge Domain 3: Social Media Engineering
  • Knowledge Domain 4: Social Media Requirement Analysis
  • Knowledge Domain 5: Social Media Design Analysis and Solutions
  • Knowledge Domain 6: Social Media Implementation and Integration
  • Knowledge Domain 7: Social Media Verification and Validation
  • Knowledge Domain 8: Social Media Secure Operations
  • Knowledge Domain 9: Social Media Protection Techniques
  • Knowledge Domain 10: Social Media Monitoring and Detection Techniques
  • Knowledge Domain 11: Social Media Incident Handling and Forensics

Each knowledge domain has a subset of objectives and knowledge elements that define what the candidate must master to be considered a certified Social Media Security Professional.

Become SMEFP Certified

There are two ways to obtain the SMEFP Certification


Attend the Official SMEFP Training Course:

The Social Media Engineering & Forensics Training Course is the most effective way to obtain the knowledge necessary to pass the SMEFP Certification Exam. This course is taught by expert level instructors in a three-day format. Upon completion of the training course candidates will be eligible to sit for the Social Media Engineering & Forensics Professional (SMEFP) Exam. UKI offers an exam pass guarantee.

  • Format: Lectures, Demonstrations, Hands-On Labs, Daily Quiz
  • Materials: Courseware, CD with tools and examples
  • Prerequisites: SMSP Certification or two years of cybersecurity experience

Challenge the Exam without Official Training:

The individual requesting candidate status without attending official training must be a certified SMSP, have a minimum of two (2) years of verified cybersecurity work experience within the SMEFP Common Body of Knowledge, and pass the SMEFP Exam.
